Silicon Valley Wellness Consults

Wellness Consults are 1:1 sessions that allow you to address any personal health or wellness-related obstacles that have the potential to hinder your academic success. Each session with your Wellness Program Specialist (WPS) is designed to support you through direct feedback and guidance, and help you connect with relevant NU and/or local resources that can offer more in-depth support.

+ Common consult topics include managing stress and anxiety, navigating health insurance, developing mindfulness skills, culture shock, imposter syndrome, relationship issues, accessibility concerns, MLOA, Title IX, and more.

Urgent Mental Health Support: Dealing with a mental health crisis? Connect immediately with a Uwill therapist 24/7/365 at +1.877.233.9477 (U.S.), 855.229.8797 (Canada) or +1.781.457.7777 (International). If you are experiencing a medical emergency, call 911.

Unlimited Free Counseling: Through a partnership with Uwill, you can schedule an appointment with a licensed therapist based on your preferences including immediacy, gender, ethnicity, language, or focus area. Create a profile with your NU email and get started in minutes.

Togetherall (Virtual Peer-to-Peer Support): Express yourself and get support in this completely anonymous peer-to-peer mental health community, available 24/7. Togetherall is free for all Northeastern University students. Licensed and registered mental health practitioners, called Wall Guides, monitor the community to ensure the safety and anonymity of all members. Create a profile with your NU email to get started.

Headspace: A science-backed mindfulness and meditation app focused on helping you “create life-changing habits to support your mental health and find a healthier, happier you.” Build healthy habits and use Headspace anywhere, anytime. Create an account for free using your NU email.

SilverCloud: If moments of anxiety or sadness sometimes stop you in your tracks, Find@Northeastern offers an online program to help you move past those feelings on your own and build resilience as you go. SilverCloud, a digital on-demand mental health and well-being platform provides students with customized strategies to manage depression, anxiety, sleep issues, stress, resilience, and more. You can choose to self-guide or work with a SilverCloud coach who will support you throughout the process. It will help you build the tools and strategies that could improve your days – and your academic performance.

Global University Student Mental Health GuideThe Student Mental Health Guide is designed to increase student access to mental health support. The guide is a collaboration between students and staff and touches upon various mental health components, including information about available mental health resources, answers to many of the mental health questions students have posed, and ways to support a friend experiencing mental health challenges.

CSDS offers transformative experiences of spiritual exploration, inter-religious dialogue, and service learning across Northeastern’s global campuses. Silicon Valley students can receive assistance and support for a wide range of spiritual and personal needs through virtual and confidential 1:1 Spiritual Advising. There are over 25 Spiritual Advisors to choose from spanning diverse religious, spiritual, and humanist traditions.

Wellness Room (4 N 2nd. 10th floor)

  • Enjoy this designated space for meditation, prayer, and relaxation. The Wellness Room is a shared resource. Please be respectful of the space and use for up to roughly 20 minutes at a time. No booking required.

Gym (75 E Santa Clara. P1 Level)

  • Various cardio machines and weights. Restrooms include showers.

Game Room (75 E Santa Clara. P1 Level)

  • Various interactive games including pool tables and air hockey.

OPEN provides supportive, accessible, and non-judgmental education and services to students on the topics of alcohol and other drugs, sexual violence, and sexual health. Visit OPEN’s website to learn more about their confidential resources.

Comprehensive health coverage administered by Blue Cross Blue Shield of Massachusetts.

Eligible students are automatically enrolled in NUSHP for the academic year (September 1st – August 31st). Eligible Winter and Spring entrance students are automatically enrolled in NUSHP from January 1st to August 31st.

Students who elect to opt out of NUSHP must submit the NUSHP waiver, which requires proof of comparable coverage.Waiver can only be accessed on Gallagher after the health insurance fee appears on your bill.

NUSHP does not include dental or vision services, however, NUSHP subscribers have access to Basix, a dental savings program offering access to dental care at substantially reduced rates from contracted dental providers.

The DAS serves Northeastern students who have documented disabilities as defined by the Americans with Disabilities Act as Amended (ADAAA) of 2008. Under this definition, a person with a disability is one with a physical, mental, emotional, or chronic health impairment that substantially limits one or more major life activity.

DAS staff members regularly work with students who have a variety of types of disabilities, including:

  • AD(H)D
  • Asperger’s Syndrome and related disorders
  • Chronic and degenerative disorders
  • Hearing loss
  • Learning disabilities
  • Mobility impairments
  • Psychiatric disorders
  • Traumatic or acquired brain injuries
  • Vision impairment

MLOA is an option to consider when a student is diagnosed with a major medical illness, injury, or psychiatric illness, after the start of the term that significantly interferes with their ability to attend classes and complete requirements.   • International students should read through the MLOA overview provided by the Office of Global Support (OGS) prior to applying for MLOA and follow each step to ensure they stay compliant with the requirements of their student visa.

OUEC offers students a place to discuss and report issues regarding discrimination and harassment and provide multiple pathways towards a resolution. Visit the OUEC website to read more about their services, learn about your reporting options, and/or file an online discrimination complaint.

Northeastern University’s Ombuds for Graduate Students offers confidential, impartial, and informal assistance to graduate students who have concerns related to their university experience. The Graduate Ombuds Office is independent of all other departments within the university, and the ombuds does not hold any additional positions at Northeastern.

We Care is an extended network of support services that provides help and encouragement to students who are experiencing unexpected challenges in their personal and/or academic life.
